No video… but i am off to work at a Salvation Army kettle today singing Christmas songs to hopefully brighten someone's day and collect a little money for the great work the SA does helping the poor and unemployed. I condsider it selfish as it really makes my holiday season and reminds me what it is all about. I started doing this 3 ys ago and before that did not find the holiday pleasant… too commercial and busy! Now i look forward to it. Join me, sign up at www. sawaukegan.org or everytime you pass a kettle and have loose chnage in your pocket drop it in a kettle- no not just once but everytime you shop!! Merry Merry happy happy to you all!!
I love this. If I wasn't out of town I'd try to find a way to participate. Thanks for living missionally…look forward to hearing what kind of feedback you get.

Beautiful! Thanks Ben. What a spectacular example of how a community might seek God together in the midst of a multitude of distractions that vie for our attention and allegiance.
Well, good news and bad news. The good news is that all three people, Ben, Joel, and Mark, who recorded a video and going to get a prize! The bad news is that the legitimacy of blogs and a participatory medium for the betterment of people been dealt a crushing blow. Between about 200 subscribers to this blog, almost 200 Twitter followers, and over 700 Facebook friends, 3 people were compelled to record a simple video talking about how they are making God central during Christmas as a way to win a prize that benefits others
Be that as it may, Amy and I hope to record a video tonight announcing who's gonna get what.
I'm just an average guy trying to shape his identity around God's dream for the world and his place in it. This blog is a place for me (and you!) to reflect on and discuss all that might mean. Looking for a bit more on me? Check out the about me. Peace.

14Living for the approval of others is an idolatry I struggle with, so I'm not sure if I should thank you for approving me or not.
All kidding aside, glad my comment found its way into the land of approval.
