Of course Amy and I are going to want to add our own personal touch and flare to the music during our ceremony and reception, but we wonder what kind of great suggestions others might have. Is there a song you just love? Something you were really glad you used for your wedding? Feel free to add any suggestions by way of comment. Let us know: artist, song, whether you think it’s good for a ceremony or reception, and anything else you want to say.

1Kevin and I were very intentional with the songs we chose. Our processional was based on they hymn "O Love That Will Not Let Me Go" and for the lighting of the unity candle we had the prayer "Savior Like a Shepherd Lead Us' Other songs were important too, but those two really spoke to our prayer for new life together.

2I've always loved Purcell's trumpet tune, Pachabel's Canon in D or Clarke's trumpet voluntary for a processionals!

4James Taylor “Something In the Way She Moves.” Great little tune and would fit for a wedding.

6I was also very intentional about the music we picked for our wedding, it was one of my favorite parts. The ones I liked the most were “You’ve Always Been Faithful to Me” by Sara Groves that was sung in the beginning, I walked down the aisle to “Who Am I?” by Watermark, and my brother sang/played “The Church’s One Foundation” (the arrangement on the Indelible Grace cd) while we took communion. Oh, and we had a congregational singing of “Great is Thy Faithfulness” right before the vows part. (there was a lot of music!) And my bridesmaids walked down the aisle to “Savior Like a Shepherd Lead Us.”

10OK, here is your definitive list. . . not really. I was way intentional about our wedding music, every part of ours had worship elements to it, though, there are few love songs that I would use now if doing it again.
Only You- David Crowder
Lucky -Jason Mraz
Don’t Stop Believing -Journey (kidding, sort of)
Surrender -Lincoln Brewster
All you need is love-Beatles
Julie’s Song- Sean (you can’t use it, but if you write me a poem, I make you a song.)

11To be FUNNY or not to be?… How about a diverse selection instead:)
1. Old’s 97 – Question
2. Rachael Yamagata – Be Be Your Love
3. Loney, Dear – I Love You (In With the Arms)
4. Nina Simone – My Baby Just Cares For Me
5. Josh Rouse – Sweetie
6. Glen Hansard – Falling Slowly
7. Francoise Hardy – Mon amie la rose
8. Emily Loizeau – L’autre Bout Du Monde
9. Odetta – Careless Love
10. Priscilla Ahn – Dream
11. Bessie Smith – Baby Won’t You Please Come Home
…It’s a weird mix… and there aren’t really any party fun songs (that’s a different list).

15Thanks for this post and for sharing these comments — my bride and I are choosing songs now for our August Wedding. These suggestions are helpful. We plan to “process” out of the church at the end to “Our God is An Awesome God/He Reigns” by Kirk Franklin.
