• Amy G. Drops the F-Bomb!

    March 3, 2009

That’s right – just the other day, for the first time ever, Amy G., dropped the F-Bomb, and in reference to me no less!  The F-Bomb of course being, “fiance!”

Amy and I got engaged this past Friday night, and in just 5 minutes and 30 seconds, you can hear the whole story in the video below!

Of course we welcome your congratulations in the comment section, but we are also taking our time to think creatively, imaginatively, and theologically about all the details between now and the honeymoon.  So if you have any ideas, thoughts, resources, links, stories or whatever to contribute, please, please, let us know.  No, we don’t know the date yet.  Yes, we will have more updates as stuff gets decided on.

JR and Amy, CONGRATULATIONS!! I just watched the video, very cool story and I am so happy for you two. Good choice on the music, I'm a big fan of Damien Rice. I will offer up some advice when I feel the need to…..the biggest thing Beth and I learned during the planning process was secure the church and the reception site date first and then plan everything else around that because those are the two hardest dates to nail down together.

Congrats again, and Beth and I are both very happy for you two.

    Congratulations guys!!
I must admit, it's been too long ago for me to remember what advice to give about the process of moving from engaged to married other than have fun and don't do more than you have to. In other words, don't make it so big that you can't enjoy it. Hope to see you soon.

JR- Congratulations! How amazing and exciting. We're very happy for you. My bit of advice would be that since you performed the ceremony at our wedding, you should return the favor and have both of us (and Kylan!) perform yours:)

Hey Stewart, thanks. We'll do our best to have as much fun along the way as we can. We're thinking about scheduling vacations from planning so that we don't let the details consume our relationship.

HA! Love it. I'll do some thinking and see what I can come up with. Start working on a family song – Ryan can play, you can sing, and Kylan can just sit there lookin cute as all get out.

What up guys, we are friends of Amy from way back…so cool to hear you guys are getting hitched. We just got married a few months ago and I will pass this along to Krista and she can give you the scoop. But after watching the video about the proposal, sounds like you guys have a knack for making things fit your personality. I am sure the wedding will be the same.

Amy, so happy for you and JR you too, bro. Well done on the Damien. There are a number of damien rice songs that could have sent the wrong message! Amie was a good choice all around. Dude, we did the long distance thing for a huge portion of our time together. Always excited to see each other…sucks to leave. We are really happy for you guys!

We're so excited for you and Amy, JR! Ed and I have already begun to pray for this transition for both of you and this new chapter in your lives! As far as advice…we were married 6 1/2 years ago, and at that time were trying to save as much money as we could. While we did have a beautiful wedding for fairly cheap, we didn't hire a videographer and I really regret it. We had someone volunteer to videotape our wedding, but it's very poor quality. Every year on our anniversary when we watch the video (which is now a DVD), I wish that we had not spent as much on the cake and the other decoration type things and had instead invested in the recording of the most wonderful day of our lives (tied with the day our daughter was born, of course). I'm not sure how you and Amy will feel about all of that, but just wanted to throw that out there! Savor every moment of being engaged…it doesn't last long at all but will give you a lifetime of memories! Welcome to the family!

So excited for you guys! Great idea with the video. That's awesome :) You really shouldn't hide the excitement of the love anymore! :) You can see it wanting to ooze out of you!!! Let me know if you have specific questions or want advice…we were very intentional about what we were most passionate about and threw the rest to the wind-my advice to you!

I look forward to meeting you one day. My husband and I were just married on January 3. Enjoy the engagement–but don't make it too long. Marriage is a true treasure. Congratulations!

Yay!!!! Congratulations!!!!! =) I can't wait to meet Amy, the soon-to-be Mrs. Rozko! =) As far as "advice," I would recommend reading Sacred Marriage by Gary Thomas and Intimate Allies by Allender and Longman. We read those when we were engaged, and they helped us get more of a handle on a practical theology of marriage, I actually used a lot of quotes from Intimate Allies in our wedding program. Congrats, y'all, enjoy this season in your lives!!!

Congratulations! Most of what I remember from wedding planning is a lot "sure, honey" and "I think that sounds great", so I don't think I'd be much use in the wedding planning advice department, you'd have to ask my wife…

Hey JR nice to meet you. So you are the mystery guy that I have been hearing about. I kept teasing Amy on when you were going to pop the big question. I thought maybe it would be in N.Y. … I was at Indiana Wesleyan with Amy when she had to leave early to be with you on the East coast. Yes, she left the new guy on the block stranded to go be with this mystery guy …. lol. Congrats to the both of you!

The video idea was great. Thanks for sharing it with me.

    Take care,
