• Standing for Those Who Choose Nonviolence

    January 15, 2009

I am certainly no expert on Israeli-Palestinian relations or the fighting that has been going on between them for so long.  I do know that it has gotten worse recently and I am sure that the future holds only more of the same.  I also know that, as with all conflict, people tend to support one side over another based on whatever criteria they deem to be most important.  Whatever the case, it is an easy decision for me to support these folks, the Shiministim, Israeli’s (teenage) conscientious objectors who are being imprisoned for their refusal to serve in the military.  Check it out in more detail here and see if you feel compelled, as I was, to sign and send the letter to have them released.

HI JR. Israel was declared a nation by the UN and given back their land in 1948. Israel is the only nation started by our heavenly father. All other nations have been started by man. (remember God's promise to Abraham) Satan hates Israel and Jews because of this, and the whole world may end up with hate for her as well but I believe God himself will come to her rescue and she will return to the Lord for salvation. (see Rom. 11:25-29) The nation of Israel has had a mandatory draft for years, where men and women are required to fight for their country. This is due to their very small number and land size compared to how many are attacking them. When you have world leaders declaring they will "wipe you off the map" and have taken serious measures to do so, you employ every source you have. I am not saying it is right, but understandable. Ultimately the battle is not theirs, it is the Lords, they can not see this yet, but they will. My hands are shaking as I type. I know in my heart that things are winding up and the Lord will soon return to redeem them. The Bible says to pray for the peace of Jerusalem and I believe that that peace has a name and He will come shortly…
