WHAT?! You didn't vote?!

Just kidding. Oh, and by the way. Not voting means you can't talk about politics. Or hold any opinions. Or think. Or bake pie.

How 'bout dem apples? (Get it? Dem... heh.)

America has come a long way for sure, but there is still a long way to go. My hope is that the next four years will be a time of reconciliation- A reconciliation of people to God and a reconciliation of people to people. I get discouraged from voices that continually speak a negative report about America or what will happen to her. I seek truth and justice, but there is a difference between pointing out problems to work on, and dwelling on those problems. We are told in scripture to think on things that are "pure, lovely, and of a good report." The drawing above is focusing in on a good report- an overdue justice of equal opportunity for minorities. There will always be troubled times and always a reason to be alert, to use wisdom, to and bring justice when possible... but I believe this is done best when there is a focus on the positive- the hope that we have as Christians in Christ. If we, as believers are pointing (with our lives) to Christ, our mouths should be backing that up. And if we lift Him up- He has promised to draw all people to Him! So yay for Obama, and yay for McCain, and yay for all who are willing to join the cause of Christ.

Oh man, way beyond funny or clever, that's for sure. Those words didn't even enter my mind actually. What a huge step for a country that, no so long ago, treated black people as property! I attribute it not so much to the greatness of America, but to the labors of a faithful minority who fought for biblical justice and the reality of the imago dei in all humans. Thanks for the affirmation.

hmmm. what's the word behind the smile??? funny? yes but not really. clever? maybe. by the way, I affirm you in not voting (not that you need it) and then posting on politics. i think the opinion, which I'm sure I once held, that not voting means you forfeit your right to voice your opinions is short sighted. especially when one consciensiously objects to the process. so, post on my friend! your thoughts are good and important ones.
