  • Preaching and Dialogue: Friendship Found

    April 20th, 2007 · No Comments

An ongoing point of contention between emrging church folk and more traditional and reformed church folk is with regards to preaching. Emerging church folk often seem to have little tolerance for monologue type preaching, noting its one-sidedness and intrinsic bent toward authority (never mind its historic biblical and historical significance for the people of God). At the same time traditional/reformed church folk with a “high” view of Scripture, are more inclined to trust in monological preaching rather than dialogues (nevermind its biblical and historical significance for the people of God). Bob Hyatt has been offering, and plans to continue offering, some thoughts on how each side tends to set up something of a strawman, some sort of imaginary enemy that they are fighting, inorder to make their case. I’d encourare you to check out his posts on the matter, they’re quite good
