• Back to the Cross

For so many reasons, the cross of Jesus stands uniquely at the center of God’s history in Scripture and therefore in the world. Every Church tradition, not surprisingly, has its own way of understanding and applying this event. For a great number of Christians the primary significance of the cross falls under the notion of substitutionary atonement.  I have become increasingly convinced that this idea isn’t the best way to do justice to the event itself of the thrust of Scripture in general.

I friend of mine recently wrote a post articulating this sentiment and I’d like to refer it to you and welcome comments and observations.
