Dear Ohio friends, here’s the deal. I know many of you have been wondering about some of my upcoming plans. Here’s what I can tell you. I will be home on Monday, May 22 and will be around for about 3 weeks. I’ll be home that last week of May and then have the honor of being able to conduct the wedding ceremony for two of my former high school students, Nate Bush and Trisha Price on May 27. I’ll be home that next week and then will go to Toledo to see my good friend Heather graduate from med school. Then another week at home and down to Athens to see my brother graduate from college at OU. Right after that I will be traveling to Hilton Head, SC for a week of vacation with some of my best friends. On June 18 or 19 I need to fly to Idaho to be part of a conference with Brian McLaren and then I will return to Pasadena on June 22 for summer quarter. Talk about a flurry of excitement!
I can’t wait to see and spend time with so many of you. I am sure it is going to go way too fast especially since I will need to figure out what to do with my house which is currently in limbo and also because I will try and spend some time with my grandma at Pelee up on Lake Erie. Nevertheless, I will do my absolute best to get in touch with everyone that I can.
There’s a number of reasons that I have decided to finish out my program in California as opposed to Ohio. At the top of the list is the fact that no job has presented itself. On top of that is the fact that there are a couple classes being offered at Fuller that I may want to take adavantage of. I am still trying to decide if I will finish up by writing a masters thesis, or just by taking the classes I am interested in.
A final reason for the decision to remain in Pasadena for the summer has a name – Maria. Maria and I met toward the beginning of the quarter. Actually, she said something sarcastic and offensive when we were first introduced which was what first tipped me off to the fact that we might be good friends! Anyway, we’ve spent a lot of time with each other and things seem to be going very well. That being the case, I am excited to spend some more time with her during the summer. Trust me, if you knew her, you’d make the same decision!

1Thanks RJ. It makes me feel real good that I wasn’t mentioned as one of your “reasons.” I am deeply hurt

8Say hello to Maria from me. And take good care of her. Or I will hunt you down and make you regret your decision to remain in Pasadena for the summer

10[...] What now? I get to relax and enjoy the next 10 days with family and friends while I am in Ohio. On Dec. 18th I’ll be heading back to California to celebrate Christmas with family out there. Maria returns from Norway just before New Year’s and we’re excited to be reunited and celebrate the new year together (guess this paid off!). In January she will be continuing her MDiv program at Fuller and I will have the opportunity to partner with my good buddy Wess as TA’s for Ryan’s class, Church in Mission. I’ll be looking for work on top of that, so if anybody who reads this knows of anything interesting in the Pasadena, please let me know. [...]
