I am an idiot. I booked a flight the other day online through cheaptickets. Somehow I entered my return date as July 22 instead of June 22. Now cheaptickets wants 100 for a change fee, another 50 bucks for a processing fee or some crap like that, and then, obviously, the difference in ticket cost. Any body have any thought on how to beat “The Man” on this one?

1Sorry you have to go through that JR. Welcome to my world.
On the flip side, I’m excited to see you and catch up on what’s happening in JRLand.
You can use my card if you need to, brother. Just let me know.

2“The Man” has been beaten and thanks go to my dad. My dad travels all the time for work and knows the airline system inside and out. I called him this morning around 11 and told him the situation, he called me back at 5 and informed me that I had received a complete refund and all I needed to do was send the tickets back. Amazing! So, to all my friends who have been oppressed by “The Man,” take heart, there is hope.
Dave – thanks for the offer – you’re also “The Man,” but the good, non-oppressive kind.

4[...] Our third ever "blog party" to happen at our house saw a radical boost in attendance! For the first two gatherings JR and I were the only ones to come, however this time we had 5 bloggers present. My wife, Emily, decided to join us this time around and although she didn’t work on writing a post, she worked subscribing to a number of PMC blogs. Chris worked on writing for his professional blog, Katagrapho, that he will be using with his students in New Testament exegesis. Joy also came, and decided to buy her own domain and power up a WordPress blog, which was pretty exciting; I was able to help her get the basics down but the learning curve in the beginning is always a bit high. I think we will see some great stuff on her new site, as she is interested in Feminism, Anabaptism and Ethics. JR, an integral part to the Blog Party, was able to make even though he’s been busy trying to "beat the man." In all it was a load of fun hanging out and kicking it WordPress Style! [...]

5Well, know that telling you this will only give a sporting chance at beating me, however I like to toy with people instead of just winning all the time. did you try calling customer service and explaining what happened and how you will blog everyone you know about how their service sucks if they don’t allow you to change your flight?
that;s typically what I do. YOu have to stay stubborn and curt. Don’t yell, but rather make pointed statements, as patronizing as possible and you just push until they either hang up ( you loose), give you what you want ( you win), or send you to a manager ( you have a small chance of winning).
good luck
