Wess and I went to college together at Malone. We share(d) a common interest in youth ministry and also in theological education (he beat me out to Fuller by a year). He’s got the tightest curly hair of anyone I know (girl or guy), laughs like Krusty the clown, miraculously landed an incredible wife in Emily, and is an emerging Quaker theologian. He and I joke about coming back to Malone together to shake things up a bit.
Wess is one of the few friends that I have had who seems to do a great job of living out the best of what the conservative and liberal ends of Christian thought have to offer. Simply put, Wess has shown me what it looks like to believe that Jesus both died for me as well as for the world (a feat that far too few followers of Jesus seem to be able to pull off). You could take a look at this blog to get an idea of what I mean.
Wess just finished his MA and is applying to a few different PhD programs. As soon as he’s done messing around with that he’s gonna get back to Canton, become the head of all things Quaker and share his gifts with the world. If that falls through, he’s mentioned engaging the world through a lucrative career as a gas station attendant. He’s definately the guy I want pumping my gas, I’ll tell ya that.
Wess is a great friend that helped to make one of the hardest transitions of my life not bearable, but enjoyable and exciting.
